Arizona. Refining her skills as a Doctor of Chiropractic over 15 years, Dr. Rossi worked tirelessly to perfect her own “art of adjusting” under the guidance of Reach Chiropractic, then in her own practice, Rossi Chiropractic Life Center. During this time, she was blessed by serving up to 300 patients per day. Loving and serving so many patients helped Suzan to have a profound understanding of humanity. Dr. Rossi became more than “just” a chiropractor, she became a facilitator for acceptance of self and for accelerating positive change in people’s lives. Patricia F. McLean, D.C. (’84) — Dr. Patricia Foster McLean, 72, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2023, after a brief illness while visiting family in San Diego, California. As a chiropractor for four decades, Pat helped thousands of people achieve healthy, pain-free lives in her hometown of Virginia Beach, her second home of Maui and around the world. Pat was “a force of nature,” in the words of her family, and she pursued multiple careers. In her early 20s, Pat applied her culinary skills as a traveling chef with Grammy-winning ensemble The Paul Winter Consort and toured the U.S. In her early 30s, Pat recovered from a severe illness under the care of chiropractor and future husband, Dr. Michael McLean. Her experience inspired her to pursue her own Doctor of Chiropractic at Life Chiropractic College in Atlanta. She graduated in 1984 and joined Mike in practice at Ocean Lightforce Chiropractic Center at the oceanfront. In the decades that followed, Pat went on to co-found the national League of Chiropractic Women, serve as a Virginia state representative and a fellow of the International Chiropractors Association, and offer instruction at chiropractic colleges around the country. Pat is survived by her children Celeste, Beth, Lion, and Demian; her son-in-law Mark Haynes; her grandchildren Hannah and Emerson Haynes, and Chloe and Daphne McLean; and her siblings Judson Foster and Judy Foster Munden. Mike McClean, D.C. — Friend of Life University — Dr. Michael S. McLean, 77, passed away peacefully at home on August 23, attended by loved ones. Mike was Hampton Roads’ longest-serving chiropractor, practicing for almost 50 years and adjusting over 50,000 patients. He led the lobbying effort that secured chiropractic care as a benefit for U.S. active military and veterans in 1999 and later served as president of the International Chiropractors Association. Mike expressed warmth and concern for every person he met. Patients hailed him with smiles and waves in supermarkets, restaurants and shops around Virginia Beach. When he inquired, “How are you doing?”, he meant it, and he listened carefully to the answer. He never turned patients away for lack of resources, and he ensured everyone received care. Mike joins his late wife Pat (May 2023) and is survived by sons Lion and Demian McLean and Mithra Green; daughters Celeste and Beth McLean; son-in-law Mark Haynes; grandchildren Chloe, Daphne, Hannah and Emerson; and sister Harriet Spencer McLean and brothers Robert, Albert and Newton. Chuck “River” Ribley, D.C. — Cofounder, Friend and former Board of Trustees Chairman of Life University — Dr. Chuck Ribley, known to many as “River,” passed away June 22, 2023. Dr. Ribley was one of 16 Life University (Life U) founders that spoke Life U into existence during many walks on the sands of Ormond Beach, Florida. These 16 visionaries crafted their dream and transformed it into reality in 1974 when Life Chiropractic College was founded. Dr. Ribley served on the Life U Board of Trustees from the beginning, and soon after, Life U became the largest chiropractic college in the world. He was deeply committed to the University by giving his time, talent, and treasure over decades of service. Dr. Ribley will be remembered by his family and friends, and the thousands of people he mentored around the globe as a man of deep principle and passion, a man who truly lived Lasting Purpose.
